Falsified APIs. Are we solving the problems?

The problem of falsified Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) forms part of the overall, global problem of counterfeit medicines but has until recently received relatively little attention. Recent fatalities caused by falsified APIs have brought the issue into the limelight. Increasing evidence exists that the magnitude of the problem is very large. Several legislative initiatives aimed at resolving the problem are now running in different parts of the world.

The author evaluates the progress and launches his ideas for reaching effective solutions in the shortest possible period of time. Finally, he stipulates that if the API issues will be effectively resolved at the same time a large step forward will be made in the fight against the entire counterfeit medicines problem.
