Message from Chair Lynne Byers:
This week marks the 2011 Annual Meeting of Rx-360, and we will be taking time to celebrate our many achievements. Rx-360 is still a young organisation, born in 2009, but we have quickly grown into a respected organisation. The most recent testament to this was the request Martin VanTrieste received to testify before the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) regarding securing the pharmaceutical supply chain. He provided this testimony two weeks ago on behalf of Rx-360. He shared what Rx-360 is doing to help protect patients, and his testimony was very well received. (You can watch the testimony at here).
The organisation now has a membership of 67, including 24 manufacturers and 25 suppliers to the pharmaceutical industry. The shared audit programme has moved from pilot phase to a routine operation, so companies may now put forward redacted audit reports for submission and sharing in the database. The joint audit pilot is nearing completion, with 17 audits performed, and only 2 left to do. The last audit is scheduled for the first week in October, and we have already sold one of those reports to a non-member. Data are being collected for the routine programme.
We have maintained excellent communications with those who are interested in supply chain security. The data are impressive: more than 200 flash reports have been issued and there have been 48 summaries of proposed/passed legislation. This demonstrates how we can all benefit by sharing the effort.
I look forward to continuing to lead Rx-360 through 2011 and 2012 and see us grow. I would ask everyone to talk to their contacts, both within and outside their own companies and share what you know about Rx-360. We appreciate your continued support.
Regards, Lynne
